Fingerprint Scan API Toolkit™ Processes 150+ Cards An Hour with HP Scanjet® 7400C

PLANO, Texas — Mentalix, Inc. announces the release of a 21-second-per-card scanning solution in the company’s latest version of the Fingerprint Scan API Toolkit.  Available in Version 3.3 of the Toolkit, the FBI-certified software library runs on Windows XP/NT/2000® and supports the Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 7400C scanner.

The Scanjet 7400C sells for approximately $500.  Coupled with the Fingerprint Scan API Toolkit library, the scanner meets the image quality requirements for submitting ten-print cards to the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).  This software/hardware combination enables the user to scan over 150 cards per hour, and it can be scaled to meet various needs.  For instance, the system works for agencies that handle a large number of fingerprint cards as well as for companies that process lower volumes, but wish to use an economical desktop scanner.

“We know of no other system that offers certified card scanning at this speed for such an affordable price,” Paul Siegert, Mentalix president and CEO, said.  “Plus, the speed is beneficial not only to the high-volume market, but also to customers that just need to scan a few cards per day.  The price/performance trade-off with this solution makes it the preferred choice for general-purpose card scanning.”

The Fingerprint Scan API Toolkit allows integrators to provide fingerprint card and latent print scanning for users of Windows and UNIX® systems.  Features include support for non-U.S. fingerprint cards or for custom applications and a choice of several scanner/platform-specific libraries, each FBI-certified as IAFIS-compliant.  Libraries are available for 500 ppi card scans and 1000 ppi latent print scans.  The software works stand-alone, but can be enhanced with Mentalix’s other API products which provide FBI-certified WSQ compression, automated image cropping and color scanning for images such as mug shots.  Contact Mentalix atinfo@mentalix.com for details.
