Mentalix’s Fed Submit™ (Civil) 1.8 Fingerprint Systems Supply Electronic Background Checks At Lower Prices

Press Release
June 7, 2004

PLANO, Texas — Mentalix, Inc. announces the availability of version 1.8 of its Fed Submit (Civil) product line.  Fed Submit systems enable inkless live scanning and fingerprint card scanning, allowing banks, schools, airports, finance companies, port authorities, border patrols, military installations, security agencies and human resources personnel to submit electronic background checks.  Criminal record checks and identity verification requests can be submitted instantly from a Fed Submit system.  Fed Submit (Civil) pricing is now significantly lower, though several new features have been added to version 1.8.  New features include:  tiered user permission settings which dramatically improve system security, swipe card reader support that eliminates basic demographic data entry, full-text search capability for all stored records (capacity for up to 50,000 records), and integration with demographics systems.  Fed Submit (Civil) 1.8 also offers scalability, with options for an affordable base solution that can also be expanded to include centralized processing for multiple locations and restricted-access administrative workstations.

Fed Submit allows users to send electronic fingerprint records securely and quickly to an agency such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the American Bankers Association (ABA), and the system receives and tracks the results of the agency’s database search.  Many administrative functions are available for streamlining data entry, database searches, reports, and record tracking for multiple users or locations.  Depending on the agency’s regulations, background check results are returned to the submitting company electronically (usually within minutes of submission) or via hard copies; all responses can be tracked through the Fed Submit (Civil) system.

Fed Submit complies with the FBI’s IAFIS (Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System) scanning, transmission and compression standards for both ten-print card scanning and live scans.  The software meets ANSI/NIST fingerprint submission requirements, upon which virtually all state, federal and civilian agencies’ identification systems are based; data fields can be customized for specific agencies, such as the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).  Fed Submit can be expanded or scaled down to accommodate the needs of small departments or large companies.  Options include FBI-certified card printing, submissions from multiple workstations or locations, and limited-access workstations for conducting administrative tasks.  The Fed Submit (Civil) product is tailored specifically for submitting background checks; other products in the Fed Submit line also offer arrest record submission for law enforcement agencies.
