Press Release

PLANO, Texas — Mentalix, Inc. announces announces the immediate availability of its newest addition to the company’s Fed Submit fingerprint scanning software line, Fed Submit Card Processing. The system, which runs on Microsoft® Windows® XP/2000 Professional and Microsoft® SQL Server 2000, enables the use of multiple, off-the-shelf, flatbed scanners to scan and convert inked fingerprint cards to the FBI-accepted NIST/EFTS electronic format. The software provides an interface for scanning fingerprint or palm print cards at either 500 or 1000 ppi (pixels per inch), scanning related documents and photos that can be associated with the fingerprint record, creating electronic fingerprint files, checking the data, tracking scan statistics, and publishing the files to storage media. Suited both for one-time projects and ongoing processing needs, Fed Submit Card Processing is targeted at service bureaus, government agencies, national ID companies, state Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS), and large city agencies.
“We saw a marked increase in requests for card scanning solutions that could be customized under extremely short turnaround deadlines,” Mentalix President Brian Gross said. “We created Fed Submit Card Processing as a service-based answer to this problem. This allows us to work closely with the customer throughout the project and provide ongoing support. We can apply our expertise in fingerprint technology and customization to the requirements of a particular project.
“We have already delivered solutions that efficiently handle in the range of ten thousand cards per day,” Gross continued. “For our customers, there is no unknown pricing exposure and no burden of providing specialized technology. We work with them directly and scale the system to meet aggressive deadlines. The Fed Submit Card Processing system is practical for any card conversion operation, from jobs of just a few thousand cards up to tens of millions of cards.”
Mentalix can customize the Fed Submit Card Processing interface to match a company’s workflow and to support particular fingerprint card templates. For example, the software can be configured to identify cards based on serial numbers or barcodes. Such data can also be used to match and import demographic data supplied from the customer’s database. Other options include the ability to process cards one at a time or through batch processing, which allows the customer to separate the scanning and demographic data input tasks. Quality assurance tasks can also be performed at separate stations, if desired. In addition, the software tracks scanning rates and input errors by user, thereby providing a means to reward scan station operators based on performance.
All of Mentalix’s Fed Submit products comply with the FBI’s IAFIS (Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System) standards for both ten-print card scanning and live scans, as applicable. The software meets ANSI/NIST fingerprint submission requirements, upon which virtually all state, federal and civilian agencies’ identification systems are based; data fields can be customized to meet the formatting requirements for specific agencies. Fed Submit can be expanded or scaled down to accommodate the needs of small departments or large companies. Options include: FBI-certified card printing, submissions from multiple workstations or locations, limited-access workstations for conducting administrative tasks, barcode recognition, customization to match workflow, batch processing, and custom report generation.
